Brecqhou Stamps.
When the owner of Brecqhou, L. J. Matchan Esq., found that the planned issue of stamps was soon to be banned after Guernsey’s Postal Independence, he decided to issue them for just the one day, 30th September 1969.
The new owners, Sir David and Sir Frederick Barclay , took over in the 1993, and not only built probably the last ‘Castle’ to be built in the British Isles, but operate a postal service for the resident population and since 1999 have started issuing carriage labels again.
